Coppola understands the power of Winona Ryder much better in his Dracula. When Winona Ryder dies in that movie, her husband immediately sells his soul to the devil and lives on as a demon for hundreds of years, on the off-chance that someone else who looks like Winona Ryder may someday be born. Then, when he finally finds her, he allows Winona Ryder to kill him.
