Just wanted to show Lenny that angle on the toe. Not clown shoe-y like Altras have a reputation for being.

Re: The Running Thread
Verb, how was the last 6 months of running for you? Any injuries? Races? Goals?

Re: The Running Thread
I haven't run in a race for years now. I think I finished 2021 with 1200 miles or so. Slow start to 2022 due an IT band flare up. I hope to really be rolling by Fall.washing machine wrote:Verb, how was the last 6 months of running for you? Any injuries? Races? Goals?
Are you going to train for a marathon? Maybe it would motivate me to start a training plan at the same time as you.

Re: The Running Thread
I have my eyes on a February 2023 marathon. Likely will use higdon's novice 1 program and not set a time goal.
I'd also like to get one more half in this year as well. Or a trail race.
It's funny, I never thought I'd be this into routine and structure when it comes to running. Now I feel like the consistency is the only thing that can really motivate me right now. I'm still kind of in a post-race blues situation where I'm feeling a little adrift week-to-week. I'm playing around with 80/20 effort-based running, but I haven't really been able to make myself commit to regular days on a weekly schedule.
I want to get back in that rhythm even without a race to train for that includes short runs throughout the week and an incremental long run build for weekends.

Re: The Running Thread
The best thing that happened to me during that half marathon training block was learning how to fuel. Lessons for life. Really revolutionized how I felt throughout the day and during long runs.

Re: The Running Thread
Nothing too specific, just a lot of carbs and all day long. Graham crackers or bagel and peanut butter before a long run. Chocolate milk and breakfast taco afterwards. Eating to stave off fatigue as well as to recover. I found huma gels for long runs, which really bridged the gap between my previous feelings of bonking and energy throughout. I like that they are pretty natural and packed with chia too. I learned not to be afraid of sugar if I'm active all the time and I learned that I really don't need dairy with most meals.verb_to_trust wrote:What was your fueling routine?

Re: The Running Thread
I hit an 8 miler yesterday which put me at 28 for the week. Felt the slight resurgence of left knee pain. This is starting to get annoying. Part of me wonders if it's high stack shoes. I ran in my Speeds yesterday and had been using my beat up adizero pros, which have a much more reasonable drop. Will have to rest today and might pick up some Kinvara 12s on sale to see if the 4mm helps.

I liked your run yesterday because it was a rare chink in your pacing armor that made me think I could actually hang with you for a run and not get dropped.verb_to_trust wrote:I hit an 8 miler yesterday which put me at 28 for the week. Re: The Running Thread
I've had a weird tightness behind my right knee that shoots down to my calf. It's not very painful but it's been there over a week now. I noticed that my cadence has taken a dip. Not sure if it's because of that or because of my very intentional pacing slow down as of late.verb_to_trust wrote:I was holding back a little on pace because I felt whatever it is in my left knee. For shoes, check out runrepeat.com
They have great reviews and also show the prices for each shoe on a bunch of different websites.

Definitely a comprehensive site. Good recommendation.Hatfield wrote:For shoes, check out runrepeat.com

I also really like the empire that people at https://www.believeintherun.com/ are building, but their reviews are increasingly becoming extensions of each reviewer's personality. If you follow them for long enough, you can kind of guess what you'll like about a shoe based on what Thomas or Robbe don't like about a shoe, which is not the most practical approach. Still, fun website to visit when you want to geek out about shoes.

Speaking of, I've been waiting for this review. I don't know what I think about Altra getting into the carbon plate game this year.
