I come here today not to talk about the new album but to sing the praises of the monolith "Don't Forget Me" from the 2002 album By the Way.

The guitar lines throughout the verses can only be described as slowly oozing through the veins of that song's circulatory system. If I didn't know better I'd guess it was a Kim Thayil cameo.tragabigzanda wrote:washing machine wrote:I come here today not to talk about the new album but to sing the praises of the monolith "Don't Forget Me" from the 2002 album By the Way.Top 10 Chilis right there

Re: Behind The Sun: The Official RHCP Thread.
I think I've mentioned before how most days I drive my wife's 2011 Nissan Versa, which has a busted aux jack thereby forcing me to rely on the CD player for music. The only RHCP cd I can easily locate after several moves is a burned copy of BTW, so I've been listening to a lot of it lately as the new album hype cycle has come. I never listened to it back when it came out. In fact I think this burned disc was my brother's, but it's making up for lost time now. Tracks 1-7 are unstoppable, but "I Could Die for You" and "Cabron" kill the mid-album momentum for me.epilogue wrote:I love By The Way. Really underrated record.

Re: Behind The Sun: The Official RHCP Thread.
Oh heavens no. I don't want to get into the lyrical content too much. It's kind of an interesting song in that respect. I just can't enjoy the way the song actually sounds. It feels like a gimmicky genre piece that was tapping into the same vaguely northern Mexican territory that "Corona" by the Minutemen or a handful of Sublime songs famously do. Maybe if I was an LA citizen I'd get it?epilogue wrote:ah! Shame. "Cabron" is maybe my favorite RHCP song -- such a fun, upbeat song.epilogue wrote:ah! Shame. I suppose Cabron could be read from the perspective of an Astros fan in October 2017 and I'd enjoy it.

I've never really thought about the lyrics, though I can sing along with it -- I just think it's irresistibly catchy. It was hugely beloved by my group of friends at the time so I guess that helps too. But I love it.
