No Code: Official Album Thread

Well, I mean think about the songs that missed the album or existed around the same time…Long Road, I Got I’d, All Night, Dead Man, Black Red Yellow…you could certainly retract it into something you may prefer but No Code as it is makes that herky jerky statement it was meant to convey - maybe the best sequenced Pearl Jam album.

Yup. Individually i prefer a couple of those songs to a couple of the tracks that landed on No Code...but im perfectly happy with that album as is and those songs existing as b-sides.

i was listening to no code this morning and noticed something. In Off He Goes, when he sings ‘on a trip he’s taking for a ride’ - is the way he sings ‘on’ the first studio instance of what would become his vowel mashing tic? Its not nearly as prominent as it would become, obviously, but this may be the first time I noticed it

To be fair. Nowhere does it say this is a single record. My only evidence is a new picture.

The shipping weight is 3lbs, and given that a single record ways a little over 6oz. It'd be shocking if this package included over 2.5lbs of packaging.

At 33 RPM, a 12" record is ideally limited to about 22 mins per side. Any more than that, and you have to start taking aggressive steps with compression and/or EQ, as a wide dynamic range and bass frequencies can make the needle vibrate as it gets closer towards the center of the record.

By taking a 49 minute album and limiting it to a single LP, they are obligating the vinyl master to compression and EQ that are likely not ideal for the music.

Or maybe they just cut Off He Goes and Lukin from the Vinyl release

Clear vinyl is actually the purest vinyl, is my understanding.
