I wouldn't say lifelong, but he was funny as fuck in interviews and podcasts in his later years. I am definitely a fan.

So insensitive. It’s like when Dwayne Haskins died some people talking about his shortcomings as a QB. Real nice Trag.

gilbert:

I always felt bad for Mother Teresa. Mother Teresa lived a whole life helping starving children and dying villages, but she could never be declared a saint 'cause she never actually performed a miracle. And it was towards the end, she was desperate to perform a miracle, so she would go up to starving children and go, 'What's that behind your ear? It's a quarter!'

Gilbert is the first person I ever saw do standup in-person. Summerfest 95. Waiting to go into the Marcus Amphitheatre to see my first PJ show. I heard his unmistakable voice in a tent just doing a set. I remember none of it, but I remember enjoying it and feeling like I saw a celebrity.

It must also be said that he put together a couple of great performances as Lewis Blanchard on Wings.
Favorite moment:
Lewis to Helen: I’ve got a camcorder that shoots in the dark.
Helen: I’ve got a gun that does the same thing.

What was that late night program that he hosted called? I think it was on USA, like mid-late 90s?
