Let's Actually Listen to Spotify's Top 100 Songs

Other than Pearl Jam, who else is there?

I worked in a call center and every time that terrible fucking Jason mraz song would come on the radio, the ladies would stop all work, stand up, and do a weird little shuffly dance to it. One of the major factors that led me to go back to college.

It's a little weird to have the radio playing at a call center

I mean it wasn’t blasting the music to the extent we couldn’t hear the calls

Excepting of course the times when Jason mraz came on, when they would turn it way up

I guess I'm just thinking of my own experience at a call center where there was no music playing and the only thing you could hear was the sound of frustrated employees teaching senior citizens how to find the control panel on their PCs

Well this was the customer service and loan center for a credit union, so we were either helping seniors understand their bank accounts or trying to sell them home equity loans. Maybe that’s more conducive to listening to music. I would count the days until my turn picking the music, there was a good AM Gold type station that made the job slightly less unbearable.

So, slightly more bearable? Or are you happy with less unbearable. Either is fine.

I relate to the call center story; I worked in retail for too many years and had to endure similar torment at the hands of corporate satellite radio. If someone were to ask me what song I've heard most in my life, I'd probably name some rock song that's been with me since I was young -- "Corduroy," "Alive," etc. However, I am almost certain the true answer is "A Thousand Miles" by Vanessa Carlton. I probably heard that song 5 times a week for 12 years, and I feel like I still hear it every time I am in a store for more than 45 minutes.

Thankfully I got out of there before this Jason Mraz song could overtake it.

Even Carlton hates that song. Saw her say that in a YouTube video

There were many, many worse songs than "A Thousand Miles" in the rotation, but none that were played quite as relentlessly over so many years. There is no variety of adult contemporary playlist into which that damn song cannot slot.

I was so offended by the premise of this video (narcissistic pop band decides their random pop up show would be considered more memorable than a couples own wedding!) that I switched off after a minute.

Total shit.
