Jack White / White Stripes / Dead Weather / Raconteurs / etc

Other than Pearl Jam, who else is there?

I've only listened to the first half but this thing is fucking electric! I goddamn love it so far. I'm glad he's not abandoning the sound/experiment on Boarding House Reach. Hopefully this album gets folks to go back and revisit the previous one with new ears.

This one takes all that weirdness from Boarding House Reach and makes it more accessible through meaty guitar hooks and better melodies.

It's so fantastic.

The first four tracks on Fear of the Dawn are unfuckwithable. Just excellent. If that was an EP, I'd call it the best release of the year, hands down. Jesus. But I there's a lot of weirdness still. And I'm here for it.

Alright, I've listened to the whole thing now.

It's a baller record. I love how it alternates between heavy, poppy, and weird. I think, ultimately, Boarding House, is the better record, but Dawn is so strong and I look forward to repeated listens.

Jack White is so fucking good.

Yeah this album is a ripper. The vinyl sounds super good. I could never get into BHR so this is refreshing to me. Shades of The Racs on a song I can’t place atm. And shades of zeppelin in one of the later songs. Can’t wait to go through it again.

I just don't understand how non BHR people are into this record.

Great drum sounds. Heard a bit of RATM in there. Will listen again for sure.

Almost every song on this new one is better than anything off boarding House reach

Hi-De-Ho is my early favorite from Dawn. Based on the discourse I'm seeing, that's most everyone's least favorite.

Hi-De-Ho is great. Not my favorite, but I also don't understand the general reaction that seems to be happening with that one. If it hadn't been released as a single, I would probably just assume its because it comes after those first three tracks, which are so damn good. For those who are hearing it for the first time in the full-album context, it wouldn't surprise me if that's a factor.

I had no idea it was single. My first time hearing it was in the album context. But I think you could be on to something.

I really hope it's better than the last one, which barely passed as music

Hi-De-Ho doesn’t bother me as much as it did on first listen. I do think the intro to the song is too long, but otherwise it’s a fun break from the assault on songs 1-3 which are all phenomenal.

Oh man, it’s my favorite on this album for sure. I can’t get enough. This whole album is solid. Absolutely in love with the closing track, too.

Shedding my velvet is the most Raconteurs song he’s done since. I love it. Perfect closer for this wild ride.
