It got a little awkward after that.

Fair enough. While it may not be public knowledge, they probably have some secret corporate partnership that lets them purchase all their necessary parts at a discount. Cyborgs would make sense.harmless wrote:Let's reach a compromise at cyborgs, maybe.Jaeti wrote:Huh. Love Mark Richards. He is one of us, clearly. It was like I was in the room asking the questions.

I was concerned that the band being interviewed by "friends" was going to turn out to be not too interesting - they seem to insulate themselves from any outsider (ie same old BoB, Clinch, Cameron Crowe, 10C people, fanboys Cohen & Letkemmann, artists, etc.). I'm pleasantly surprised by both interviews thus far. I think Gleason's is going to be awesome.

I think with Carrie (and people like Carrie) they feel like they're never cool enough, so that affects how they answer. I love her but she's basically an avatar for the "pure" punk rock aesthetic and idiosyncratic comedy that is perceived as truly alternative. I think "the boys" feel like stooges around someone like that (or Mark Arm).
Mark Richards is more "hail fellow well met" and they can just relax.

No, it IS our fucking fault. We should be smart enough to know that it's a written article and everything can't be grasped from a tossed off quote from Jeff or Mike on how the album is going. Even if the writer sucks, it is the reader's fault for overeacting.harmless wrote:It's funny. When you have their faces in front of you, it's so damn easier not to pick apart everything. You could speculate, but it's far easier to just take their word for it. I don't care as much that they're holding stuff back because I can see it was their professional decision to do so. The overall impression is that they look good and happy. That's kind of hard to argue with. The trouble with a written article is that they're so often written terribly, and insensitively, that they'll have RM scrambling like vultures to get a piece of them. And that's not our fault. We want more info about everything if there's controversy. These articles often stir shit up without ever actually resolving anything for us. I just feel a bit more in touch with the band when I can watch them talking. It may be a construct, but meh... how would I know anyway?

This is one of the most enjoyable interviews with the band I've seen. Good questions. And, really good answers. Stone & Jeff, in particular.Tuolumne wrote:Love Mark Richards. He is one of us, clearly. It was like I was in the room asking the questions.
