Yes, despite having a relatively short career, and arguably lacking a couple of top tier movies that the likes of the K Hepburn, A Hepburn, Davis, Bergman or even Bogart, Stewart, Brando or H Fonda had, she is in that elite level of actors that was the best classic Hollywood ever saw.

She already had it in the silent movie era, but few of those movies can still compete with what was to come. Flesh and the Devil (1926) is the best I have seen of her from that era.

She made it big in the sound era with Anna Christie (1930) and Romance (1930), but to me they felt even more dated than what had been before. Mata Hari (1931) followed, a big improvement.

She played in 28 movies between 1924 and 1941. 1939’s Ninchotka, a career highlight, was her second last movie. In 1941’s Two-Faced Woman, her last movie, she is by far the most interesting part of a fairly mediocre movie.

Between 1932 and 1939 she made 8 movies, which included all of her best work (as well as As You Desire Me (1932), The Painted Veil (1934), Conquest (1937), and her best movies):

Finally watched The Last Duel. I really enjoyed it. I liked the structure and it was interesting watching for the differences in the stories.

Ben Affleck's blonde eyebrows were a little distracting, but all of the performances were great.

Whenever there's active promotion on the part of somebody else, whenever I see somebody all dolled up for a fancy photograph and someone's handing out flyers or whenever there's active promotion for something like that, as an imposition on my day, I hate all those people and I want them to fail. I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

Have an hour left. Had a match to see, then baby girl had to sleep (which can take some time), and since I’m waking up at 5.30-ish (in three hours), I went to bed early as well.

Thought the first 40 minutes were fine. It felt like the role was written for a slightly younger man, like Clint 10-20 years ago. I love him, and I think it’s wonderful that he can do this at 91, but there are a few times his age really shows. Look forward to finishing it tomorrow after work.
