Gus knew Lalo is alive because he's an almost supernaturally perspicacious character, not because Lalo's plan wasn't effectively communicated to the audience. I have more of a problem with how Gus is written sometimes

yeah i didnt liked Gus knowing he was alive because Hector shook his hand. It would have worked better if he told over the phone that something wasnt adding up.

No one said this was the case. But I think it’s really cute how protective you are of this show.

But how would that even work? Did they get a set of falsies shaped like Lalo’s teeth?

No, Lalo had his own dental records replaced with a copy of that guy's after the work was done.

they also made it clear that the salamanca family owns the police, so why go to the trouble?

Salamancas may own the local police but I think Juan Bolsa owns the Federalies. And, no doubt, other interested parties would be looking to confirm his death.

Gus knows Hector very well and knows he wouldn’t genuinely shake his hand if he suspected Fring’s involvement in Lalo’s death. If Lalo were dead, Hector probably would’ve shit his pants just to offend Gus. He’s done it before. I don’t think this was a reach for the character at all.

it wasnt out of character but weirdly precise. I would have liked a more nuanced feeling about what might be happening.

And yet Gus knows before the end of the episode that Lalo's still alive. I'll grant that maybe I missed something obvious, but it seems to me like a rare fumble of a plot point by VG: It's not really explained very clearly, and the net payoff is either A) some confusion for us dumber viewers, or B) it doesn't even matter 25 minutes later. Weird.

Gus knows because Hector shook his hand. Hector would never shake his hand. So Gus knew something was up.

Yes I did understand this. But it's just a lot of silly mechanics (the dental records/shave and a haircut stuff) for something that doesn't seem to be actually driving the plot one iota.

I feel like it could be short-sighted to say it doesn’t advance the plot. Lalo being believed to be dead allows for a certain dynamic that he’s hoping to use in his favor for revenge against Gus. I’m sure it will serve a purpose we don’t know yet; could just be a wrinkle of having to work backwards from the timeline of breaking bad

Only got to watch the first episode. Interesting that the season didn’t start with a Gene scene.

Based on what Vince has said in the past, I'm expecting at least 1 entire episode in the post BB timeline.
Frankly, I thought we would have had more Gene scenes to date.
