The Fed had largely reined in inflation by 1983. They raised interest rates dramatically under Volcker starting in '79. There was a double dip recession but they succeeding in getting inflation under control.elliseamos wrote: So it was already heading down and then the equation was changed? My understanding is that the change was an improvement, trying to make the housing component better reflect the actual cost of housing as opposed to the cost of buying a house.4/5 wrote:The Fed had largely reined in inflation by 1983. And I was just thinking the other day that we’re in the glory days of streaming, where accessibility and content are intersecting at their greatest point. Oh well.

I saw an add for a movie about a pregnant guy on Netflix the other day. It wasn't Junior either.

Yesterday the market was up over 900 points, it’s biggest single day in two years. The said it was The Fed increasing the prime by half a percent.
Today the market is down 1200 points and they’re saying it’s fallout over the rate increase?
