Well, when you ask that question, the answers are what guide you to the reasons. So it's a good question if you don't know why.

i think asking someone in an abusive relationship why they don't leave is a bad idea. it's essentially shaming that person.

Taking the victim's reaction out of the equation, the answer(s) to the question still matter(s). You still want to know the actual reasons if you want to solve the problem. In Johnny's case, apparently it has something to do with him continuing his toxic relationship he had with his mother. There are more tactful ways to get to the answer of the question, but it's still a valid question to have.

Whenever there's active promotion on the part of somebody else, whenever I see somebody all dolled up for a fancy photograph and someone's handing out flyers or whenever there's active promotion for something like that, as an imposition on my day, I hate all those people and I want them to fail. One of my dearest friends is going trough a very difficult moment with her boyfriend. She know this guy since she was 16 and had all kind of different problems since then, she had a fight with her best friend because of it (her best friend was dating the guy and the guy was trying to hook up with both at the same time but couldnt but still she had sex with him), 4 different women told her stories about the guy, 2 of them went actually to the police and got restraining orders, all the stories are kinda the same, the guy is an abuser in all kinds of ways, physically, emotionally, economically...

After all those complaints, she still decided she wanted to live with him. She is now trapped basically, and cant talk to anyone, but obsessed that her friends and family think the guy is a good guy.
