Speaking of PG, Down by the Seaside is top 10 Zeppelin for me.

And for all the praise Jimmy receives as a guitarist, I'd say his arrangements and ability in the studio both trump his fretboard prowess. A lot of the sonic qualities on these records hold up very, very well. And, man, the guitar tone. That was 1969? I still try to set my shit up to sound the same way.

I like it alright, it just never fit for me. Honestly, a lot of the Houses of the Holy album (which of course it is not on) doesn't do much for me in comparison to the rest.

I like the Houses Of The Holy record well enough. No Quarter is definitely a highlight. The Rain Song, too. And I guess I've always enjoyed The Song Remains The Same more than most.

No question No Quarter, and the Rain Song are the standouts to me.
The Song Remains The Same is interesting. The Crunge and Dyer Maker are fun. I just think Over The Hills, The Ocean, and to a lesser extent, Dancing Days, are a bit overrated. And Houses of the Holy (the song) kinda fits in with those to me. A good enough song, but doesn't do that much for me compared to the rest of their catalog. I feel the same way about Black Dog.

Can't stand Over the Hills.

Love D'yer Mak'er and Dancing Days, mammoth tunes. Bonham kills it on D'yer and the "FIRE!" vocals at the end make the entire song worthwhile.

Actually, with the exception of Over the Hills, I'm pretty sweet on Houses too. That middle period of Zep is pretty strong, I just really dislike LZ II and almost everything after that period.

Just thought I might let you guys know that 3:30 thru 3:52 of Fool In The Rain might be my favorite Bonham moment ever. It's an exquisite display of percussion. Especially the fills that end that run.

as for pg.. ten years gone is my favorite zep track overall.. the rover and wanton song kick ass.. i can almost listen to the entire double disc without skipping....

i saw earlier in the thread not much love for all of my love.. i didnt usually listen to it much.. but not too long ago i saw get the led out play it live and it sounded really good, now i constantly listen to it..

ive been all about achilles last stand as of late.. such a good and underrated tune.. may be in my zep top 5

Man, I could talk about Led Zeppelin all day (although outside of the Celebration Day DVD, I cant remember the last time I actually put on Led Zeppelin.) But it's all been discussed to death, and frankly, there aren't a whole lot of new opinions on it.

And I stopped caring much about music at some point. I think it was when my favorite bands of my early 20's (311, Our Lady Peace, Pearl Jam) started to suck... and I realized I had 2 options- 1. Actively seek out new music and try and get involved, 2. Enjoy what I enjoy, and if something catches my ear, I'll give it a listen... Which is the route I chose. I have a soft spot for unabashed pop music. Ke$ha for example. You guys all like a lot more (and in most cases, better) music than I do, so I don't add much to OB.

I hear ya man. In my 20's I was all into music. I was listening to new things, and finding out a lot about classics I never listened to that much. Bands included KOL, Wilco, BRMC, a few of those "the" bands of the early '00s, and lots of local DC (went to a bunch of local shows). I was also expanding out by listening to Fugazi, Dismemberment Plan, Sonic Youth, Brian Eno, and David Bowie. This is also the phase where I discovered the brilliance of the Kinks (a band I hardly knew anything about save a few songs), and tried out some jazz.

Somewhere in my early 30's, maybe like 32ish, I just stopped giving a shit. A lot of the music I had been into for years started boring me (Doors, Seattle bands, Beatles, Hendrix, Clash to name a few), and new music just didn't connect with me. That being said, I haven't really gone out of my way to find new music either. When I happen to hear something I like, I take note, and get the song and maybe even the whole album.

I don't really know where I'm going with all of this, but lately, I've actually kind of found my way back to Zeppelin; especially Physical and Houses.
