My road to power is promoting the ability for you to say stupid shit like this, not preventing it!
But it’s true! Your quest is stupid shit!
I don't agree with what you say, but I will defend your right to say it!

- enslaving the human race in order to gain power.

- ensuring freedom of speech in order to gain power.

Elon Musk is one of the weirdest rich people out there. I for one am interested to see what he does with Twitter. I think the people on the left who are worried, and people on the right who are pumped up, are both overestimating how much it’ll change. We may get a few more “deplorables” let back on, but less bots. Either way, Twitter sucks, and has for a while now. Whatever.

all this acquisition does is move efforts to control speech and the consensus-making apparatus to other layers of the tech stack (ISPs, CDNs, DNS, browsers, operating systems)

but a win is a win, it's fun to watch the regime squirm

Ruddo kind of illustrated online discourse in a nutshell here.

They're unsuspending a lot of accounts. Basically all you have to do is ask.

The question is why? To make Musk look bad? Or to cover their tracks?

Elon is probably no longer buying Twitter. Tesla stock fell through the floor today in response to him buying it.

It’s on Reuters

Yeah we're talking about a guy who has never backed down from doing something he'd publicly committed to.

I have wondered this myself. It’s easy to say “I’ll bring free speech”… rile up the right and see what happens. Not sure the outcome is going to look pretty, and the brand probably suffers. But maybe he clears the bots or whatever and it highlights that nonsense (also some left wing nonsense). Maybe that’s good. I’m leaning on the former but still don’t think the changes will be too drastic.
