I can't find a damn thing not to like about this song.

The immediate comparisons to their alt-country roots made me play AM on the morning commute. I would be surprised if the new album is all like this, but it's really cool to hear these guys tap into that spirit with mostly new players. They make it sound authentic, which is ultimately what matters most to me with this band.

The lyrics are great too. Heavy in a way that the music distracts from, initially. Classic Tweedy.

For some reason, a double album of throwback alt-country ear candy with a Nelsy twist feels like just the right zig for the Wilco canon to take at the moment.

This band's career has frustrated at times, but looking back and looking forward, I can honestly say we have enough of the picture now to say that it's one of the wildest rides in the world of obsessive music fandom

Agree -- some albums have taken longer to work their magic than others, but overall I think it's an extremely well-built, artfully drawn body of work, with an internal logic to it that makes more sense the longer it sits. After the short, somewhat staticky Ode to Joy, a longer-form, more immediate live-sounding record like this feels like just what the doctor ordered.

Totally agree about Tweedy as a lyricist too.

So, I just decided to start No Depression whilst driving for 15 or so minutes. This is a whole rabbit hole thing I got to put aside some time for.

Enjoy. I never really delved too deeply into Uncle Tupelo and what I have heard was years ago, but i'm guessing it's generally similar to A.M.
