The Wire, Deadwood, Sopranos and West Wing

Post by dimejinky99 »

These are the finest TV shows ever made.

What's your favourite and why?

Breaking Bad can ask my butthurt and is not to be discussed in this thread thanks.

I own The West Wing series, I liked the Sopranos, I've seen first few of The Wire episodes, but not the whole thing yet, like what I've watched though, and never saw Deadwood.
Never saw any of Breaking Bad either.

Well, I haven't seen any of those shows. But I think Mad Men, Lost, The X-Files, Game of Thrones, Girls, Louie, I Love Lucy and that show you don't want us to talk about are all fucking excellent. Those are probably the ones I'd list as the greatest shows of all time.

Its weird cos it is actually like comparing powerdrills and swordfish. I didn't mean for this to be a comparison or Vs thread. Theyre each brilliant in their own way.
I always found the Sopranos to be without any redeeming features. I don't want a happy ending and flowers and drinks for everyone but there's almost no character arc for anyone present in that show. And maybe that's the message. But it's relentlessly grim and perhaps the humour, such as it is, isn't to my taste.

Whereas I can laugh at the wire, deadwood or west wing, every few seconds almost.

I've only seen three or four episodes of GOT. Gonna wait til it's over (haha)
Funny enough, I'm gonna be an extra on Game of Thrones next week. I'm a dothraki guard.

Everyone should watch Deadwood. It's right up there with The Wire and Breaking Bad for me.

The Shield is next on my list to get into for a couple reasons

a. mick's recommendation
b. Clark Johnson directed like 8 episodes or something
c. I fear i can not continue to avoid the spoilers about the supposed amazing conclusion.

The Sopranos was a much better show than Breaking Bad

I've heard that from a lot of people. I really need to watch The Sopranos. Maybe that'll be my next one. That or West Wing.

I just said "by far. in my book." Which reinforces my post but also makes it clear that it is only my own opinion.

I probably enjoyed Breaking Bad more, but Sapornos is better. Italian gangster stuff isn't my bag, usually.

My faves are The Wire, Archer, Game of Thrones, Mad Men, and some other ones.
