I've got no issue. I was just gigging you about discovering the sloppy joe and the frito pie. I think the terms you somehow found for those things are funny/weird and so I went for the "spike is a rube when it comes to southern food" angle.spike wrote:What’s your issue, man?

While I’d categorize the Manna as a loose meat sandwich, it is certainly not a Sloppy Joe.

The only banh mi I've ever eaten have been overpriced. Which is weird considering the origins of the po' boy. Maybe it's a bit of a fad?washing machine wrote:I just ate an overpriced pork belly banh mi that was very good.

Re: Cold Cuts: The sandwich thread
Banh mi and po boys share the same type of bread. They also have roots as a staple of the working class and have never been expensive to make, so they should never be expensive to purchase. Unless you're upgrading them with quality local ingredients that are more expensive for a restaurant to stock. Like the heritage pork belly banh mi I overpaid for on this page.epilogue wrote:explainEllo Sailor wrote:The only banh mi I've ever eaten have been overpriced. See the food forum price index thread for what the average price of a banh mi should be, give or take your local economy.

Re: Cold Cuts: The sandwich thread
In general, how many slices of deli meat (sliced to sandwich thinner thickness) do you put on a sandwich?
