I always loved how this song injects Riot Grrrl hardcore punk into an otherwise "girly pop" hit song, via the vocals, lyrics, and an obtrusively grating bassline

That weird little cosmic sojourn after the chorus in the Byrds' "Wasn't Born to Follow" feels a little too on the nose to really count as subversive, but I like the way it works in the song for this thread.
