not a masterpiece by any means but it's better than what i initially thought of it. a good exercise in style musically and Ed really sings it well.

not a masterpiece by any means but it's better than what i initially thought of it. a good exercise in style musically and Ed really sings it well.

I've only heard it 2 and a half times, but i can't get over how ed sounds on it

I've somehow missed both Ed and Jeff speaking about who the "she" in lightning bolt is... Is it the same person mentioned in Nothingman - caught a bolt of lightning, cursed the day he let her go...

Not a person, I thought. Inspiration? They've referenced it in the context of songwriting a few times but presumably it's bigger than that.

Obviously its all opinion because you will find someone who hates the greatest song in the world. But on my limited listens i am loving everything im hearing from sirens, and the style isn't something im offended by as a lot seem to be. But its also new PJ and i pretty much always love new PJ, so it will take some time to see how i really feel about it.
But as far as defining a great song, i think it just what the listener feels is great.

Assuming that's what was said I'm going to go ahead and quote something from my l-bolt leak review:

I think we can also make some sense of the title now, and the larger theme of the album. Lightning Bolt really seems to be shaping up to be an album about inspiration--

and from the actual lightning bolt song part

Like I said earlier, it’s a song about inspiration,

So at least one person got it right!
