Yeah I like the waxed one too.
I had a lot of unused space above a stairwell, so I made a rack for drying clothes. It's fixed to the wall so it's secure:)

Also made a big shelf for my little workspace. It's clutter jammed already.

So yesterday I made this for a customer

Then today, using a stain I made from steel wool white vinegar and rusty nails(adds colour) I stained it and this is what happened. It couldn't look more different. Weird the way the different woods react to the stuff

looks nice, dj, but I do also like the two-toned effect on the second shot.

It's weird how that happened. I took that pic while the stain was still wet and left it overnight to soak in then when I came down this morning the colours had changed entirely and almost become uniform. Different wood reacting different ways I guess.
The wax is really the magic though. Makes it look really old but adds all kinds of quality to it.
Gonna get clear wax next time. Just to experiment.

I made pretty patterns today. It's going to be a cute pair of socks.

I built a beautiful box once. I built it out of Peruvian walnut with inlaid zebrawood. It was fitted with pegs, no screws. I sanded it for days, until it was smooth as glass. Then I rubbed all the wood with tung oil so it was rich and dark. It even smelled good. You know, you put nose in it and breathed in, it was... it was perfect.
