First listen for me happening now. I heard the singles that were released not fully knowing if an album was coming, but damn this is great. At least through The Smoke so far.

1- Thanks
2- this album is great. It is very similar to what I would expect from a Radiohead album, which makes you wonder what the process was concerning not working it up with the whole band. I don’t know if it would have been better, worse, or the same, but this reads like the next Radiohead album. It on first listen, the soundscapes are great and perfect for what was a swampy, misty morning. There will be further listening.

Meh. Should have been a Radiohead album. I don't get it. Because it's not I kind of don't like it.
Radiohead - later - are really a seasonal band for me. Suns out, weather is beautiful, I'm a happy camper. Thus, this is just not vibing with me at all.
I'll try again in October or a rainy July day but we don't get rain anymore so....

Haven't listened yet, but it's exciting to hear that this reminds all of radiohead. The sentiment that because it's not actually Radiohead it's somehow inferior sounds odd to me. Could someone clarify?

I guess because the first single for me really excited that this might be something Different. The more upbeat side of Radiohead. But is listening it's kind of just more of the same Radiohead from what we've heard the last 10 years or so

Re: The everyone LOVES radiohead thread!
I think this is exactly why it’s not Radiohead. The expectation of what a Radiohead album is and means is a gorilla on a back. They could release something with less expectation. Of course it’s gonna sound like radiohead at its core, 50% of the members are present (including Nigel). It could be an experiment of shedding off some ideas and finding new ways or writing with new partners without the pressure of OmG a RaDiOhEaD AlBuM !~!washing machine wrote:Haven't listened yet, but it's exciting to hear that this reminds all of radiohead.
