so we're headed out for pizza soon...the friend we're staying with just invited a guy to come out with us and he's also going to be spending the night here..anyway, she told him to bring his guitar....man this is gonna suck

There is a baboon in me . . . clambering-clawed . . . dog-faced . . . yawping a galoot's hunger . . . hairy under the armpits . . . here are the hawk-eyed hankering men . . . here are the blonde and blue-eyed women . . . here they hide curled asleep waiting . . . ready to snarl and kill . . . ready to sing and give milk . . . waiting—I keep the baboon because the wilderness says so.

There is an eagle in me and a mockingbird . . . and the eagle flies among the Rocky Mountains of my dreams and fights among the Sierra crags of what I want . . . and the mockingbird warbles in the early forenoon before the dew is gone, warbles in the underbrush of my Chattanoogas of hope, gushes over the blue Ozark foothills of my wishes—And I got the eagle and the mockingbird from the wilderness.

It's been a rough week. A good friend got hit by and pinned under a car while riding his bike in the city. They think he'll fully recover but it's going to take a long time. He broke a lot of bones and had a lot of internal injuries, obviously.

Another friend is back in NYC (she lives in Austin now) for her friend's funeral.

Another friend back home lost her mother and her best friend lost her step-mother. On the same day.

Today, I'm at work all day (open to close) and I'm just trying to breathe and focus on the important things. Let the dumb shit go.

pretty much stayed downstairs until 11am....they all got up and ate cold pizza..i made a bloody mary when i went upstairs and got another run through of the ted talk...about to call a lyft and go to matt's for a juicy lucy and then off to electric fetus record store to calm my soul and then a dive bar on the way home before a fancy dinner tonight...
