Great replacement theory isn’t about immigration policy. It’s about attributing direct and existentially threatening purposes for that immigration to your political opponents. It’s about making voters feel personally attacked by the presence of people who are not like them.

Now I will say, I strongly beleive that mental illnesses are hugely, bigly under-reported/under diagnosed/under treated. Improvements in what we reimburse physicians of mental illness and improvements in access would be worth everyone's while, but alas.
