Finished with 2003 now, moving on to 2004.

Finally watched Prometheus. Visually spectacular, utterly stupid except for fassbender’s David character. Lots of good ideas that add up to nothing and not one compelling human character. Reminded me of the Star Wars prequels in the way it took an expansive mysterious universe and reduced it to a bunch of characters who are all one or two hops from one another. At one point the camera shows a computer screen that says SANITIZATION COMPLETE, NO CONTAMINANT DETECTED and then cuts right to a character who helpfully says “sanitization complete, no life form detected!”

I'm watching The Player. I'm about halfway through and enjoying it a lot.
