Josh Homme or Alain Johainnes would be sweet. Daniel Lanois could be amazing. Danger Mouse too.

I'd honestly take just about any other producer at this point just to get them to move in a different direction. I like the suggestion of having them produce their own via Stone or working with a number of the other talented producers that have been mentioned in this thread. I don't think I'd want to see them go the Eno route, but I'm at the point where I'd take it over another O'Brien musical molestation any time.

I think the coolest thing they could do is pick a young producer trying to make it in the business and give him/her the opportunity. Use their cache to help someone out as well as have a new young perspective. Provided they wouldn't be dicks.

who produces neil young? does he do it himself? im thinking if he's in the studio w/ them and not writing anything of his own the band will bring in their best stuff and really try to impress him.

Why not some Seattle-based producers that they've never worked with, like:

Jack Endino.

Is there an act he hasn’t produced that he would like to work with?
“Pearl Jam,” he says, pausing for effect. “But I don’t think they need me.”

..or Butch Vig.

He did Foo's "Wasting Light" (i think it's one of their best) and he works at the moment on their next one, so why not work next with Pearl Jam. :peace:

Everyone seems to be creaming themselves over the new Arcade Fire single he produced. And I bet you everyone will be creaming over the album when it comes out as well.

I have to agree with VinylGuy. I love James Murphy, I love LCD Soundsystem and I really like what I've heard from the new Arcade Fire album, but I shudder to think of what would come of a collaboration with Pearl Jam.

And that´s no reason. I really like Murphy´s work, but not for PJ. I dont want him anywhere near this band.

Jack Endino could be nice...what about Tchad Blake´s return? that could interesting.

See, when I hear Reflektor or After You (the Pulp song he produced) or even some of his own stuff like All My Friends, I can't help but wonder if he'd be able to help draw out something magical and unique from the band, specifically Jeff & Stone (& to a lesser degree Matt). I can see him not being Mike's kind of guy, but personally it wouldn't bother me to have a less Mike-centric album (also, I'm intrigued by the idea of what something like Mind Your Manners would be like had it been produced by him instead of BO'B; I could see it being more demented a la Do The Evolution than straight forward a la Spin The Black Circle).

These are all good points.

I heard Mutt Lang likes the song "Sirens"

The thought of that cheese farmer getting behind the boards on a pearl jam record is enough to make me heave.

I'll add a vote for Matt Bayles. Seattle guy, engineered binaural and some of yield (dte & aty) and has produced some great albums from Isis, mastadon, minus the bear, and the new caspian which sounds great
