Re: wilco
I will be very interested to listen to this record. For the "record", I love Jeff Tweedy and he has definitely bored me but he's never grated on me, really in any way. I really hope I like his fuck you I'm 50 I don't care this is Wilco record.

Re: wilco
I don't know what to make of this yet. Initial impression is that it's way too samey to be 21 songs. Maybe if some of the songs had some dynamics to them like a Via Chicago, At Least That's What You Said, Spiders? It's hard to understand why Jeff needs 5 other guys to be on the payroll to make music like this. Hearts Hards to Find was probably one that I liked right away. I was excited there was an extended instrumental in Many Worlds but that never really took off....

Re: wilco
When Falling Apart came out, we all thought it was going to be a throwback Wilco country album, but besides that single and the album title itself, what made everybody continue to think that this was going to be a country album as more songs came out?
Were there interviews or early reviews claiming such?

he album sees the band fully embracing their country music leanings. In a letter published upon the album's announcement, Jeff Tweedy wrote, "I think there's been an assumption over the years that Wilco is some sort of country band. There's a lot of evidence to support that way of thinking about our band because there have been elements of country music in everything we've ever done. But to be honest, we've never been particularly comfortable with accepting that definition of the music we make. With this album though, I'll tell you what, Wilco is digging in and calling it country."[3] Tweedy explained that the genre provided an ideal space to explore United States history: "Because it is the country I love, and because it's country music that I love, I feel a responsibility to investigate their mirrored problematic natures. I believe it's important to challenge our affections for things that are flawed

Maybe a better question I could have asked was "what kind of country do people think this will be?"
Not trying to move the goal posts, but with that Tweedy quote in mind, and thinking about the handful of songs I've heard, I wonder if he's tapping into these kinds of country songs versus the more traditional stuff most fans would expect, like Johnny Cash or Hank Williams.

Here's the full letter. Lots to dig into here. Re: wilco
Last day of a brutal stretch of days at work and home. Wilco (The Song) is just the push I need to get some work done before hitting the road for a couple of days. Not my favorite album in their catalog, but I'll probably just let this one play and see what reveals itself this time around.
