Re: Why was Stoner's thread deleted?
In all seriousness it is funny that we have multiple mods for what is essentially a group chat for a dozen gen Xers. Why? It makes no sense.
The elitist mods can delete posts - or even entire forums - with impunity at their whim, yet the other 10 of us can't! And they pretend they are better than us!
We are marginalized.

Most people don't even get to make polls. Can you believe that shit? (Yes/No/Not sure)

Re: Why was Stoner's thread deleted?
1. The thread in general, as a topic of discussion was fine totally fine. Let's have a thread about porn quotes.washing machine wrote:I absolutely do not mind if mods do their job, but in my mind that job is technical board maintenance/admin stuff. Moving threads. Pruning second account/bot spamming. That's pretty much it.
In this particular instance, and based on all of your responses so far explaining your modding (ty by the way), this is how I see that things went down:
1. A thread was started about porn quotes.
2. Things got questionable? The word "slut" was thrown around? Yet no one complained.
3. You decided to delete the thread when no one was looking and had no intention of explaining it untilJorgeburt started this thread.
I can see the need to edit/censor when there's a complaint. Or if kids read this board. Or if you were trying to get the board ready for a big corporate sale to pearljam.com and need it to look clean and professional. I think you overstepped, that's all. Doesn't mean I don't want modding to happen, though I do enjoy making it difficult sometimes when I intentionally try to make you merge or move a thread about bagels/donuts.
2. Yes. Yes. Well, I complained.
3. I did not delete the thread. It wasn't covert or "when no one was looking." There were active posters at the time. This wasn't covert in any way. I have no issue explaining what happened. Are you suggesting every mod should make a thread about board maintenance every time they make a move?
I respect that you think I overstepped. But I respectfully disagree. There are other people here posting besides you and we have to take all of their experiences into account.

That's fair. And we aren't asking you to respect all modding decisions. Again, this isn't a democracy.washing machine wrote:I sincerely appreciate this post. I'm not trolling in this thread. What gives me that idea? Um because I've posted with you for like a decade now.washing machine wrote:Wait. I just read this. What gives you the idea that I am trolling? Yeah, this was my thought too. Probably too advanced for this board's functionality, but something like a thread from a logging bot stickied in tech support would be ideal. Kind of like the activities log in ESPN's fantasy app. Just a ledger of activity.macphisto wrote:That would be a yuge step toward mod transparency and accountability!epilogue wrote:Are you suggesting every mod should make a thread about board maintenance every time they make a move?

Re: Why was Stoner's thread deleted?
Alright. So how about this? I'll make a thread in GD. It'll be a locked and stickied thread. Every time I do any board maintenance, I'll post in that thread what I did and why. How's that sound?macphisto wrote:That would be a yuge step toward mod transparency and accountability!epilogue wrote:Are you suggesting every mod should make a thread about board maintenance every time they make a move?

Re: Why was Stoner's thread deleted?
"My thing" isn't what you think it is and really hasn't even been close to that in at least a decade. I'm not hurt or anything, so I don't feel the need to forgive you, but I wish you'd engage me (and other RMers, like that dev thing from a few days ago...) with an open mind more often.epilogue wrote:What gives me that idea? It's hilarious how many of you think deleting the old GD was a conspiracy. I'm not necessarily surprised... but it's still funny.
