That's amazing. I'd only ask that after logging a new action, particularly if it involves a ban or thread deletion, that you leave it unlocked for a reasonable amount of time to allow for feedback.epilogue wrote:Alright. So how about this? I'll make a thread in GD. It'll be a locked and stickied thread. Every time I do any board maintenance, I'll post in that thread what I did and why. How's that sound?macphisto wrote:That would be a yuge step toward mod transparency and accountability!epilogue wrote:Are you suggesting every mod should make a thread about board maintenance every time they make a move?

Nah. The mod action is final. No need for feedback

Re: Why was Stoner's thread deleted?
That sounds pretty good. But why does it need to be locked? It seems useful that we can ask followup questions in thread.epilogue wrote:Alright. So how about this? I'll make a thread in GD. Re: Why was Stoner's thread deleted?
Of course it does, Dev. And when you've logged complaints it has gone investigated and a lot of times action has been taken. Y'all don't see everything we do unless the other parties involved want to air it out loud.Dev wrote:That sounds pretty good. But why does it need to be locked? Re: Why was Stoner's thread deleted?
Nothing ever stops y'all from discussing mod decisions and that won't change. There is a thread where I will log the mod stuff I do. It's in Tech Support. Other mods may or may not participate. The thread is locked. But if you want to talk about it in GD, feel free to start your own thread about it.
I can not speak for other mods but I will commit to being as transparent as I can be with all decisions moving forward.

Re: Why was Stoner's thread deleted?
I am under the impression that trag and snatch value their time in real life and would likely decline a mod nodwashing machine wrote:You're the newest, but your mod approach falls in line with the modship in general. I'm talking about shaking it up and sharing the mod robes with people who don't see the world the same as progressives like you, B and of course Ruddo. We don't need macphisto or anything on there, but probably trag or bodysnatcher would be a good place to start looking if you're curious about what kind of mod I'm talking about.epilogue wrote:I'm all for adding new/different mods.washing machine wrote:Perhaps, and I'm being completely serious here, what this community needs is to add a fresh batch of mods of a different mindset to balance out this clear risk of unilateral gatekeeping.epilogue wrote:No one flagged a post or issued a formal complaint to me.washing machine wrote:I didn't read the thread, but was there a complaint or something, or just your own judgement?epilogue wrote:Many posts violated community standards. Misogyny and abusive language toward women is a violation of community standards. There were several posts that were worthy of a ban issue. I didn't ban anyone. I didn't even warn anyone in for those posts because, as you say, you're all supposed to be fucking adults.washing machine wrote:What rules were broken? What is "being shitty"? Like someone else said, it feels like the mods are the arbiters of good taste on this board of grown-ups, so maybe the mods can give us a detailed list of what's "shitty"?:
But keep in mind that the point is to moderate the forum. Mods are here to uphold rules and community standards. Also, keep in my mind that I'm the "newest" or "youngest" mod. So that seems to fly in the face of you point about new blood. The issue seems to be that you don't like mods who do their job. Fair enough. But it's still the job we agreed to do.
I absolutely do not mind if mods do their job, but in my mind that job is technical board maintenance/admin stuff. Moving threads. Pruning second account/bot spamming. That's pretty much it.
In this particular instance, and based on all of your responses so far explaining your modding (ty by the way), this is how I see that things went down:
1. A thread was started about porn quotes.
2. Things got questionable? The word "slut" was thrown around? Yet no one complained.
3. You decided to delete the thread when no one was looking and had no intention of explaining it untilJorgeburt started this thread.
I can see the need to edit/censor when there's a complaint. Or if kids read this board. Or if you were trying to get the board ready for a big corporate sale to pearljam.com and need it to look clean and professional. I think you overstepped, that's all. Doesn't mean I don't want modding to happen, though I do enjoy making it difficult sometimes when I intentionally try to make you merge or move a thread about bagels/donuts.
