Yeah, there is no doubt Vasilevskiy is good and even a game breaker but so what.

lol “but so what”. In a game where you take double the number of shots Tampa does, you lose because of him. That’s what.Dev wrote:Yeah, there is no doubt Vasilevskiy is good and even a game breaker but so what.

yeah but shots aren't everything. I didn't watch the game but there is a big difference between shots and actual scoring opportunities. The Panthers were lucky to get through the first round.E.H. Re: NHL Thread
I broadly agree. The Panthers played a lot better in Game 4 but the Lightning had a comparable number of high danger chances (at least through two, the third period desperation might have tipped the scales). But they looked completely lost this year. I was impressed with their transition play during the regular season but they were exposed as a regular season team. Very little shot blocking and no plan to deal with playoff style defense. Tons of garbage shots and then taking stupid penalties when they get frustrated. They definitely would have lost to Toronto, for one, and probably only made the second round because they drew another team (Washington) that did not belong in the playoffs.
That said, I don't think it's Vasilevskiy alone that makes Tampa formidable. They're just a really deep, really experienced team that's firing on all cylinders right now. Cooper has done a great job getting everyone to buy in on the game plan, so you've got an insanely talented power play but you also have guys like Stamkos and Hedman blocking shots. They made the right moves at the deadline to rebuild that third line. And then even when they're outplayed you have a goalie playing at the top of his game. I don't think they're unbeatable but they're a lot better than their regular season play and it makes them a really tough matchup.

Re: NHL Thread
I don’t know. Vasilevsky is on a GOAT path right now. He’s a weapon no other team can match.
Perron played a super dirty game last night. Somehow only managed to come away with 2 PIMS.
Avs have a 3-1 series lead and between MacKinnon, Makar, and Rantanen, only have 1 empty net goal. Even with no goals, Makar is a highlight reel with perfect breakouts.

Perron should have been suspended for last game. The Blues deserve to lose. I'm annoyed the Avs didn't close it out.

I focused my hate on him when they were playing the Wild in the first round. He looks like a pederast with his tinted visor. Go Avs!Dev wrote:Perron is psycho. Blues are trash. Kadri is targeted. Love that he had a hatty.

I tend to only catch the latter half of the western conference games--I threw this one on while doing dishes with about ten minutes to go in the third, and holy shit. What an incredible ending. I'd be shocked if the Avs choke but I could see the Blues pushing it to seven games.

I believe in the Oilers but also I am scared. Their goaltending is so sketch. And which over opponent they have next is going to be a serious challenge. Honestly I hope it's the Blues because I think that will be easier.

Re: NHL Thread
Dev's right, there's a big difference between just average goaltending and wildly inconsistent goaltending. Mike Smith is the latter, on a team that's not particularly good defensively to begin with. I just don't see how you win two more series with him, when your opponents are bound to be more complete teams than the Kings and the Flames.
