Where do you live?
Beautiful California, a part where radicals outnumber liberals by a lot.

Alameda county forcing masks again indoors. Local radicals who were still teetering on liberalism were often heard uttering “this is the last of it” type statements when confronted during omicron w “how long will you put up w mandates?” type questions.

I don’t think they’ll do it again in a lot of places because votes.

Hopefully local governments will simply remember that people should be treated like human beings.

How long do you think children should be forced to wear masks for hours a day? Why aren’t we investing in things that would actually make a measurable difference such as better ventilation in schools and government buildings? What reason could you possibly have for forcing someone to wear a mask at this point? Just so they won’t miss a couple days of work or school?

The cloth and surgical masks we were told to wear for the first 18 months? No, they are ineffective at preventing the transmission of an airborne virus. The N95s likely make a difference when worn correctly but no one is capable of doing that for hours at a time. (See the Mayo Clinic’s guide to effective mask wearing). The CDC advised the general population NOT to chose an n95 for the first almost 2 years of the pandemic, because those masks should be left for medical workers. Almost 2 years. For those who wear n95’s, when did you start wearing it?

You guys should meet up at next year’s Mouthbreathers Convention in sunny Orlando, Florida. Lots in common!

I will definitely be there and I’ll be pissed if Disney World does that thing where they keep every other row of seats on the rides empty.

I was in Orlando a few months ago. I didn't go anywhere near Disney. Maybe that's why I'm still alive?

We got an alarming email from childcare today practically screaming at parents not to take kids there right now, so my son is staying at Grandma's for the day. He's got a routine ENT checkup tomorrow so we were never going to school on Tuesday anyway. Hopefully by Wednesday we'll have a better grasp on wtf is suddenly going on at that place.
The recent cases of Covid-19 show that it is on the rise in our school. Nothing is more important than the health, safety of our families. We have continued professional cleaning that specifically targets the virus twice a day during the pandemic. We have just finished servicing the UV lights in our A/C system. Thanks to the support from the parents, there are air purifiers throughout the school. We aim to continue to maintain the best practices for the health and safety of everyone at the school. However the rise in the COVID cases are concerning, and we count on everyone's support to help mitigate/manage the spread of virus. We continue to be in this together.

At this point it is becoming a challenge to report cases in real time in order to notify families. We realize the severity of the situation and recommend keeping your child at home in order to avoid contracting the virus.
If we didn't have a backup plan of grandma's, he'd probably get dropped off at school as we would have no options for the work day today. Part of me feels like this email is too strongly worded and we just have to learn to live with viruses in classrooms, but a more pragmatic part of me (aka my tendency to listen to the reasoning of my wife) accepts that if we have an option to keep him away today, then that's the wise move.

You'll be getting the same stupid emails in the year 2030 if too many parents give in to this sort of stuff.

Don’t worry, they aren’t. Hence the email.

Twin A was sent home with 101* fever last week on Tuesday. Tested negative (mandatory test in order to return) Wednesday morning but wasn’t allowed back next day due to 24 hour rule. Went to school Thursday just fine. Called for pickup again Friday with 101* fever. Nurse said no need to test again for Monday. Today is Monday. Everyone is fine.

You might find this hard to believe but sometimes little kids just get, you know, a cold.
