You're mostly correct and this is a terrible tweet, but there are definitely people who wallow in their misery. Black holes of negativity who choose to find the bad in everything and who are exhausting to be around.

There are probably lots of different and complex ways in which people become like this, and it usually has more to do with trauma, genetics and biology than choice. Not that choice even exists technically speaking.

I think I disagree with this, but you've given me a lot to think about. It doesn't feel like unhappiness is a fixed path but there are certainly hurdles to happiness, as you've outlined. That's why that tweet is so terrible. I propose an RM group read of the following title: Man's Search for Meaning, by Viktor Frankl. Looking forward to a recommendation from you countering the themes in that one.
