Here's a pretty balanced review of episode three in Vulture, which is part of New York Magazine.

This is a funny read that picks on the writing a bit:

Vader further tortures his former father-slash-brother figure with a bunch of hackneyed bullshit out of a second-tier mid-2000s superhero movie: “I am what you made me” and “You should have killed me when you had the chance.” James Earl Jones returns for this? Obi-Wan is granted a temporary reprieve from both overcooked skin and undercooked writing when Tala shows up to save him. But to do so, she has to leave Leia on her own, which sends her into Reva’s clutches.

Do you think he banged Sabé to get it out of his system?

Honestly, if the retcon crowd wants to get its underwear all twisted up, how come no one wants to talk about Obi-Wan and Yoda's conversation in Empire? OBK literally says Luke is the only hope. Yoda tells him "there is another." It's bad enough that OBK doesn't remember that two fucking kids were born but that shit is even more egregious now that we've seen the first three episodes of this series.

Maybe they wipe Leia's memory (I really doubt it!) but someone is gonna need to move an x-wing with their mind to explain how the fuck Obi-Wan can't remember Leia in Empire!

Oh totally. Canonically we know she can't show any obvious Force use for a few years. I just think it's shitty that Obi-Want doesn't remember Leia exists. Not that she is the "new hope" but he doesn't even seem to remember her at all!

They've actually explored this in canon. Yoda believes Leia is "the chosen one" but OBK really thinks it's Luke. So it actually tracks really well and makes sense that he makes his comment to Yoda.

I like the depiction of Kenobi as straight-up traumatized by the stuff that went down with Anakin

My point is that there are times in the article where the writer gives praise/endorses ideas and criticizes others.

He didn't say Leia didn't exist. It's just that Luke's their only hope. She's worthless. So are all the other shitty Jedi running around. Fuckin' Ahsoka and Ezra, running around chasing space whales. Pfft!
Everything's perfectly all right now. We're fine. We're all fine here, now, thank you. How are you?

Is Vader toying with Obi-Wan at this point?

That get away was too easy. Vader could have put out that fire or crushed that robot or force choked that woman.

He did all those things in this episode, and any one of them would have ended Obi-Wan's escape.

I like to think that was a moment of "there's still good in him" coming out. That was how I read the scene.

But it's also totally valid to read that as a cat/mouse thing. He said he wanted to torture Kenobi. So maybe he did let him go knowing full well he'd get him again.

Yeah, they will meet again. Hard to believe Obi Wan got away in this instance, but didn't take away from the fire scene.
