Really? He's one of the most idiosyncratic film composers out there IMO. I can't think of many scores like the one for Phantom Thread, which is better than the movie

100% really. But I'm also not really a film score guy. I have to watch a movie many, many, many times before that stuff really resonates with me, usually.
