Oh, I 100% bought Chewie's death. And based on reactions in the theater both times I saw it, a lot of other people did too. And I was fucking over the moon when it was misdirect. I loved that.
I don't even remember Chewie potentially dying - did this actually happen?
Yes, that was a thing that happened in this movie. Along with about 14,000 other things.

Oh yeah. Rey accidently blows up a transport that the audience is meant to think Chewie is on. It's revealed a few scenes later that he was on the second transport, which had been shown, but everyone but Ruddo had forgotten about.

He OD’d pretty hard. It was an Oscar caliber scene tbh.

Going into the movie I told my wife that there was no way they'd kill Chewie. I was certain that was the one thing they'd never do. So, it really fucking got me. I was shocked. And it made sense that it wasn't "shown" graphically. I bought it 100%.

The thing that made ir obvious to me that he wasn't on that ship is that there were no shots of him in there during the scene, just the reaction shots from afar

Totally. Makes sense.

Like I said, that sold it for me only because of the trauma of killing Chewie. I thought, well if they're gonna do it, the less they show the better.

I was just super invested in the movie. Which, obviously, most weren't. But I was so into it that I just went along with it.

went twice to see ROS, once in Imax. Super loud movie.

Both times the theatre erupted with a big laugh at the end with ¨rey skywalker¨ moment

The Rey Skywalker sentiment is fantastic. I love how that ties into so many themes throughout Star Was -- orphans, chosen family, chosen identity, legacy, etc.

But that weird lady coming out of nowhere and being all nosy and shit is kind of hilarious.

Not within the "Skywalker Saga" no.

Rian has been clear that the point was to show how anyone can be Force sensitive. A lot of folks speculated that Rian's new trilogy would focus on "Broom Kid." But Rian has never addressed that.

TLJ set up a movie that Disney threw away. Of course, it didn't set up TROS.

I really liked where they were going.

Kylo vs. Rey
Dark side vs. Light side
Legacy Power vs. Force for All
All of that is still there in TROS.
Not that last one. You can be a Skywalker or a Palatine or your fodder in their battle for the force.
Everything's perfectly all right now. We're fine. We're all fine here, now, thank you. How are you?
