At first this read like a demo AI wrote it as a joke as part of a killer undergrad thesis, but apparently a CS major from arguably one of the top 10 schools for it in the world said:

In theory, Stanford’s dining halls present students with the opportunity to eat as much as they need given its buffet format. Yet students like me may struggle to take enough of any of the available food when they are charged with portioning it themselves.

That's fair, we don't know this person's upbringing and disordered eating is common and can be serious. But the use of the word "need" in place of "want" betrays a particular worldview very much in line with the sociopaths that are apparently heart and soul of the WaPo newsroom now and explains so much of this: "safetyism"
