You don't want to watch this then, harmless.
I just don't think I'm in the best place for it, to tell you the truth. But ironically, it's because I care about how this Steve Gleason guy is portrayed. I want him to be given proper respect for all the right reasons.

Send him a sympathy card if you feel so bad. Something tells me that he and his family are completely comfortable with this, otherwise it wouldn't have been shot and he would have been given this opportunity. But who am I to judge, you are obviously his spokesperson.

The problem here is that this was not a 'documentary' focusing on Steve's life. It was a small piece about him, his condition and his favorite band's role in him coping. That's it. If he had no problem with it, why would you? You are projecting in a huge way.
I uh... what? Projecting? What the fuck is wrong with you?

You keep bringing up your condition as if it relates to Steve. It doesn't. Stop.

It wasn't about Steve Gleason's achievements, though they did show his biggest moment in the NFL and his contributions towards healing a city after a natural disaster (but who's counting). It was about the fact that a young, healthy man is dying rapidly and this band has helped him cope and given him inspiration to leave a legacy for his child.

Regardless of your personal condition, this piece has absolutely nothing to do with you.

Stop being a contrarian grump.
Jesus Christ, man. Sorry for offending you with my opinion. But this... the bolded bit... is a very common disability narrative. It's great for ratings. If you care for how disabled people are often portrayed by the media, look up the term "inspiration porn".

He's more than disabled, he's dying. You don't know my life and it would be presumptious of you to think that somehow YOU have a better understanding of him than I would.

But hey, you're right, we're all idiots for finding this piece touching, and only you can see through the bullshit. Bravo, enjoy the misery.
I didn't say you weren't allowed to enjoy the piece. But I asked what the tone was like because I wasn't sure if I was going to enjoy it. Judging by the way you've reacted to my concerns, I think I'll leave this particular interview. But I'm really interested in this Gleason guy, he seems like a great, articulate guy.

Is there supposed to be more to the interview when they show it on e60?

Yes, there will be a 10 minute introduction by Harmless on how the media is manipulating Steve and holding him hostage.

If it helps, I was with you before when that tweet or whatever mention his and pearl jams 'unique' friendship, but I didnt get that feeling from this really, except maybe a tiny bit at the end when mike says he wished he could help him and some dude says but your music is or something. Otherwise he talked about the sirens lyrics meaning a lot to him, asked ed what he wishes his father would have left him/told him that kinda thing.

I did ignore all of the voice over automatically though, so I don't know about that.

Well then you need to stop trusting that "something" that tells you stuff, because history and experience shows that this often isn't true.

It should be appreciated. It shows the importance and power of music in a person's life. It also shows two guys on opposite sides of the a similar theme (ed losing his father and Steve possibly being the father that will be lost) and them talking about it.
