Good candidates. I think The Matrix is a good comparison to JP, as it exists in the same sort of "huge hit that helped alter the landscape of major movies," and for most people the sequels were huge WTFs.tragabigzanda wrote:Beverly Hills CopSimple Torture wrote:Besides Jurassic Park, is there a film series or franchise out there for which everyone agrees that the first movie is the best of the lot, hands down? JP 2 and 3 really aren't that bad, especially compared to the JW movies.
Really it would be impossible to replicate the sense of wonder that made JP so special.

I also don't think JP2 is awful, but it certainly is not revered like JP.JuanHamm wrote:JP 2 and 3 really aren't that bad, especially compared to the JW movies.

Re: Jurassic World: Dominion (6-10-2022)
I’ve see the first Jurassic World movie to know this was going the way of the fast and the furious.
JP 1 seemed to be the most realistic of the series. Nothing too nuts, well except for dinosaurs.
The trailer for this latest World movie has unrealistic cycle chases, and a character doing an impossible leap from building top to building top. Of course she probably runs from it like nothing happens.
I’m waiting for a velociraptor to take control of a car and chase the main characters off the top of a parking garage , fight in mid air, then crash into a skyscraper and still get up and continue a fight.

I think JP2 is terrible and it's almost the worst movie Spielberg ever made (Ready Player One or that giant movie might his worst.)

The only interest I would have in any more of these movies is if they went the way of Planet of the Apes and jumped into the future where the Dinosaurs completely rule the world and there are just small pockets of humans trying to survive.

I read the Lost World the day it came out, thought “wow what an obvious lazy money grab,” went and saw the movie a few months later and thought “wow actually the book wasn’t so bad.”

There was a summer somewhere in the mid-90s when I listened to the Lost World on audio cassette. I honestly cannot remember anything about how it was different than the movie.bart wrote:I read the Lost World the day it came out, thought “wow what an obvious lazy money grab,” went and saw the movie a few months later and thought “wow actually the book wasn’t so bad.”

I think number three especially is very underrated, brilliant action movie. Agree on five being trash, much worse than any Jurassic-movie.VinylGuy wrote:The first three of Die Hard are great and the fourth one is fun enough.
