It was a great promo, but I'm not crazy about this Russo style worked shoot.
I do wonder what's true and what's not. Feel like it's a bit unclear. If it's planned by MJF and Tony Khan for MJF to do this kayfabe, then it is similar to Stone Cold vs Vince. If MJF is doing a shoot, it's more like CM Punk and his pipebomb.
My read on it is there were legitimate issues between Max and Tony, but those were cleared up at some point recently and everything that's gone on since the PPV weekend has been a work. It's possible this has ALWAYS been a work, the dirt sheet guys insist it wasn't at the beginning, but that might just be them trying to not look like they fell for a work.

I just worry that this is going to turn Max face and I dont think that's what they are going for, unless the plan is to kind of reverse engineer the Punk/Cena feud from years ago with Punk playing the role of Cena and MJF playing Punk.
I have seen speculation on twitter, that MJF is supposed to take the belt of Punk eventually, so you might be on to something.

I so badly want Punk to drop the title to Eddie Kingston in New York.

That would be something, but I hope they go for younger guys, although Danielson should have a turn eventally as well. Feel like him and Punk needed to be champion sooner or later, more for AEW than themselves.

dont understand why it was necessary to have him do that. It's not like this was a HUGE match that they had to get in the ring, and it's not like Cody was champion and needed to drop the belt. They had this guy work this match(his 100th match with Rollins in the last month) on a C ppv with this injury, for what? WWE false advertises like a bodily function, so it's not because they had to give the fans what was advertised. I just dont get it, especially from the company that held Bryan from wrestling for years.

Yeah not one of the best Dynamites. I think theres an assumption on AEW's part that the fans are a lot more engaged with the New Japan product than they actually are.

I agree. Although that was not the problem with the Battle Royale. All midcard performers or worse.

I think the reason for that was that they didn’t want to screw up other programs by putting guys like Wardlow, Jericho etc in the battle royal, but it was the wrong call. All around it wasn’t a very good show other than a couple highlights.

Jeff Hardy got a bad dui the other night. Obviously Jeff’s well being is paramount, but it sucks that this probably means this Hardy Boys final run is over/not happening.

I know he is usually negative, but Cornette was really disgusted by this episode.
