Harmless, don't watch that video as it'll enrage you. Heavy handed production to illicit emotion. But when you scrape off the ESPN icing there is some amazing stuff. As a father of a 2 yr old I teared up. It's brutal.

The Gleason interview when it surfaces though will be fascinating. It seems that Ed couldn't refuse to answer some questions and it may be the most revealing interview of Ed ever.

This series of interviews is a great idea and once again I applaud the roll out for this album. Top work.

Jesus man those questions to Ed about his father, and Gleasons project for his young son brought tears to my eyes. As a father of 1 (soon to be 3!!) this is the kind of stuff that just brings me to my knees.

Guys, I enjoyed this and almost teared up myself. I found it respectful, not inappropriately sentimental, and it was great to have some words from Gleason himself about the tone of the interview, about pity and charity versus real feeling and experience. “It was not charity or pity. It was just mutual respect, or even love. It’s quite humbling.” It's interesting how the "cheesy" Sirens transforms after watching this. As if it didn't hit home before...

I watched it, and yeah I had to scrape back the cake icing. I think the narrator said "inspirational" 3 times in 3 seconds. But there was a lot there from Gleason himself, and the revelation from Ed showed real rapport and respect between them. It was great.

No neither did I, personally, but I understood people thinking it was. I just think the lyrics will be very meaningful to some people and sentimental tripe to others. If you've ever considered your mortality to this extent, if you've ever been on the brink, I reckon songs like this might do more for you.

I just hope that this album is good enough to feature in my 2013 top 10.

It's going to be tough. 2013 has been a musical monster year.

That list has a pretty hefty helping of "bad"

QOTSA is the only band on that list that's completely exonerated of being in any way "bad". Having said that, while I liked their most recent album I didn't see it as the wankfest lots of others seem to. Arctic Monkeys' first album was incredible and they've been declining ever since. I listened to their most recent album and I felt putting my face into a wasp nest or something. Kings of Leon's new album actually has a couple of tracks which are their best since Aha Shake Heartbreak but on the whole it's still swimming in turd.
