Re: Disney+: Obi-Wan Kenobi (2022)
I think the biggest difference in this Anakin was that duel took place probably just before the clone wars started, which was a very wooden Anakin, but this time Hayden was playing an Anakin with a little depth and more natural delivery.B wrote:I liked this episode, but it wouldn't be an episode of this show if there wasn't some CGI to pick at.
Anakin looked a little old, which wasn't a big deal, but his voice was WAY off.
Every room of that hangar was noticeably the exact size of the Volume.
Vader pulling down the ship looked a little like kids holding a model ship on a popsicle stick.

I get that a voice modulator would change his voice, that's what they do. But the accent is a bit of a leap. I thought maybe there was a Dark Side related reason for it. It's just one of those "just accept it" things I guess

All the imperials have British accents. Palpatine had a thing for British accents. Anakins voice modulator was programmed with a British accent when they put him the Vader suit in the revenge of the sith.

Do you think Disney has paid $5 million for James Earl Jones to sit and a sound booth and say every word in the dictionary?

Have you not seen the episode of Big Bang theory he was in?
He probably did it for free.

Yeah, plus they wouldn’t need the dictionary; they would only need the phonemes from him and they can use AI to form the words with his voice

No, he's already read an audiobook of the Bible. That's probably enough.Simple Torture wrote:Do you think Disney has paid $5 million for James Earl Jones to sit and a sound booth and say every word in the dictionary?

Re: Disney+: Obi-Wan Kenobi (2022)
Cool episode. I kind of wish they had ended the Reva story there. Rumors are she's getting a spinoff, but probably a prequel to the events in this. I think her being in the final episode after already facing Vader will just dilute the last episode. Her fight with Vader was my favorite think about the episode though.
I loved the flashback sparring and also Vader pulling down the ship.
Very happy to see the Grand Inquisitor back, I loved his lines to Reva there.

Absolutely. Great episode.epilogue wrote:This was a fantastic episode. This show really his gutting me in the best possible way. Other than some vfx it's everything I was hoping it would be.![]()
And the Anakin in me just can't help feeling some cocky joy about seeing Reva's motivations back at the start. Actually, thematically, that helped the flashback register with me in a fun, special way.

Re: Disney+: Obi-Wan Kenobi (2022)
I thought Star Wars was really starting to figure out how to make the death of a character really impactful with Tala and Loader, but they botched it a bit by letting Reva survive her encounter with Vader.
Given all the character is, she needs to go down fighting Vader to save someone.

She had a change of heart at the end. Then Vader did her in.
Then she finds the message from Bail.
So what’s she gonna do with that info? Try get back in with Vader? She was dying then she wasn’t (that was dumb tbh. Nobody survives Vader throwing them around with the force and then getting skewered with a lightsaber ) so now what?
I like the character I don’t love what they’re doing with her here though

It is a bit weird if she survived that. Not impossible, but would be unlikely I would think.

Re: Disney+: Obi-Wan Kenobi (2022)
Loved what they did with anakin though. That one fight (Jedi master trials I presume?) filled out more about where he is and where he’s going ultimately than either AOTC or ROTS managed to. And intercutting back and forth showing obi wan still knows how to get the better of him and beat him might just be the learner / master that Vader refers to later. I kinda think there was a force connection going on between them here. It’s implied in the editing.
Or maybe it’s just the editing I dunno.
I can’t see how they face off again now. Not on tatooine. Please.
But their ship being dead in space with no hyperdrive might just save us from that with luck.
Vader was seething in this. Also why I think there was some force link thing going on not just his usual angry setting.
Just hope that final shot of Luke is a misdirect. We can’t have Vader even getting a whisper about Luke.
