Jesus man those questions to Ed about his father, and Gleasons project for his young son brought tears to my eyes. As a father of 1 (soon to be 3!!) this is the kind of stuff that just brings me to my knees.
Amazing how an opinion on something can change when you actually see it for yourself, rather than make assumptions about it.

I didn't make any assumptions. I asked whether people thought I'd like it, since some of them know and understand my feelings on features like this. They're not always handled very well. This one wasn't perfect but was better than I expected. You made a lot of assumptions about what I was actually asking.AllNiteThing wrote:harmless wrote:Guys, I enjoyed this and almost teared up myself. You heard it and it doesn't sound like this, right? ;_; Mark Nevers produced that album.Mirella wrote:I wish it sounded like this! BPB rulesMike wrote:I'm listening to Bonnie Prince Billy right now and now I want SBM to sound like this.

I'm feeling dangerously optimistic about this album. Somebody lower my expectations quickly.

Don't make a mountain out of a molehill. Harmless is a big boy, he can handle it.

I don't really get the hate for Sirens from the PJ hipsters. Is it really that much different in tone/style than, say, Wishlist, Light Years, or Parachutes?

I get your love for it. But yes I think it's pretty different. And we need to stop using the word "hipsters", it doesn't help our case!Iowaska_Experience wrote:I don't really get the hate for Sirens from the PJ hipsters. Re: Keep Harmless Company While He Waits for Lightning Bolt
So, we saw Gravity this evening at the local cinema, and at some parts Sirens would have been appropriate music. I also smiled when I heard someone say 'off the earth'. In other words: I liked this movie.
And I think Lightning Bolt is about life, or mortality. Is life energy, is energy inspiration? The album mortality is as good as the song immortality. In a way.
And I loved the Steve Gleason video, or the almost 10 minutes that are available at this moment. It is not about disability, but about love. The will to live. And the prospect to die. Parents and children. Music.
