But then when he told the third sister they were both free, I realized that wasn’t it. With Vader saying he, himself, killed Anakin, Obi-Wan finally let go of the guilt of having failed his friend. So there really wasn’t anything to stop him from killing Vader at that point. And with Vader taking the blame away from Ohi-Wan, doesn’t that shift the hatred and motivation away from his hatred of Obi-Wan? It was almost like he was doing his old Master a favor while telling him “fuck you! I did this on my own! I didn’t need you!”

Motivationally, it was kind of a confusing scene. But it was badass as fucking hell. The whole battle and the mask and Obi-Wan’s kickassness and Vader’s kickassness and Obi-Wan’s catharsis. Fuck yeah.

I think it was an important point for obiwans arc here but in the whole story/saga overall.
He tortures himself every day over his awful decisions and losing Padme all of that.

But yes the whole thing was absolutely kickass on all fronts.

It also goes back to the training flashback we saw last week. Anakin tells Obi-Wan that mercy won't defeat the enemy. And here Obi-Wan says... hold my beer, kid.

I love how much they used the force in that battle instead of just the light sabers

These fight sequence were outstanding. The majority of the personal fights were great. Reva v Vader. Both Obi-Wan v Vader fights. Even Own and Beru at the homestead v Reva was tense and dynamic.

But for me, the thing I'll love forever and remember about this show, the thing that they just nailed 100% was the emotional canon. The themes and the deep character arcs. The way this show tackled dealing with trauma head on in so many ways.

Far from perfect, this series succeeded far more than it failed. It met my expectations and I'm just so thrilled that we have it as an official chapter in the story of Star Wars.

They were even using some of the same moves from the flashback.

Absolutely. And even Obi-Wan banging away at that chest control panel with the hilt of the lightsaber was fantastic.

The choreography across this series has been fantastic. They've used moves from across the entire series in key places. I loved seeing how both Kenobi/Vader duels have mirrored both RotS and that flashback. Masterful.

The haunting backdrop of the vader-kenobi fight scene. That is the word I was looking for earlier. Reminded me of this stuff.

When they were just facing each other before the battle, I thought it looked just like a McQuarrie painting. Not any specific one, just the whole vibe and everything.

In this same vein, I love this comp, too:

Clever use of muscle memory and using the actors to feed into the story.

If Vader was just going to battle Obi Wan alone, why didn't he just take his shuttle and let the Grand Inquisitor follow the rebels

Maybe it was the bright daylight, and open drapes. But here it was like watching that dark GOT episode at times. Just fully dark.

I thought the same thing. I'm sure if there was a bigger budget or if it had been a film we'd have seen Vader immediately go after Kenobi and the the Destroyer go after the "rebel" ship only to have the hyperdrive fixed just in time. But whatever. It all comes out the same in the wash.

I’ve noticed that too. It’s fine if you’re watching in a dark room. But I had to close blinds n everything. It was incredibly dark otherwise to the point of being unwatchable

Why didn’t Vader’s ship send out Tie fighters to take out the rebel ship?
