There was a really good Radiolab over the summer about the dude who revolutionized zoos in America, making the animal's cages less concrete and bars and more natural feeling.

Yeah, this is true. I always wonder if the penguins there are taken care of by people who are as well suited to do so as they are when they're in a zoo or an aquarium.ABNorman wrote:Standard zoos aren't nearly as depressing as Sea World type places with killer whales & dolphins and things. (I spend a lot of time thinking about penguins. I'm not gonna lie...)

A lot of zoos do spectacular conservation work, and various species wouldn't be still going without them. But too many zoos leave a lot to be desired.

When I worked for Disney, I was directly involved with their animals, and it was amazing how far they went to make things authentic and comfortable for the animals (and the people).cutuphalfdead wrote:There was a really good Radiolab over the summer about the dude who revolutionized zoos in America, making the animal's cages less concrete and bars and more natural feeling.
