In my opinion, personally, myself, to me, the stupidest, most "amateurish" puns, they're, they are the funniest to me.

You’re at dinner with some kind of group. How does your order change if you are under the impression someone else is paying?

Yeah, if anything I go cheaper, to be considerate. Unless they say shit like, go ahead and order whatever you want, I insist on paying a lot of money. Still trepidatious, but I lean frugal.

If a person in the group is paying, my order will not change. If a company or institution is paying (as is the case when I'm a guest at a conference, for example) my gaze might be drawn towards the more expensive part of the menu

I took the question to mean "do you order a more expensive dish" (maybe) not "do you order a bunch of extra food" (nah... though I might get more drinks if it's that kind of dinner)

I’d probably just eat some crackers or bread so I don’t feel obligated to owe them anything. Never put yourself in the debt of someone else.

I get what you're saying. But there's a way to be clear that you're not going to be in someone's debt when they're doing you a favor. And sometimes they're already in your debt because of services rendered or whatever.

Whenever I'm treating people I just grab the check at the end. Announcing it at the start of the meal opens the door to this kind of trepidation.
