It's a strange approach the Dems are taking to gun violence. An anti-carceral allergy to actually prosecuting prohibited possessors combined with the expectation that if only we background check hard enough, these same prohibited possessors won't aquire guns and shoot someone.

The solution is to fiddle at the edges, inconvenience those that aren't shooting people and pretend this actually addresses anything. Illinois DAs do not prosecute with the same fervor those whose FOID or CCW expired compared to the 19 year old with a stolen gun and gang connections. Guess which one they prefer to prosecute?
