Anyway, "overwhelmed" wouldn't normally be hyphenated.

Yes. But in elementary school children are introduced to hyphens by using them divide words at the syllable level when they won't fit on a single line of paper. Seemed appropriate for lyrics at the level Sirens' are and a way to slip in a dick joke. I'll use proper grammer in our future posts.

I didn't realize the line was "I can get over... whelmed." Now a bunch of posts suddenly make sense.

I didn't know kids were introduced to hyphens that way. That seems fairly silly.

I can just envision several ways in which "overwhelmed" could be pronounced properly, with a space still left after it. I don't think they're mutually exclusive options. It's fine, though, I'm not that bothered by it.

It also plays off the first time the pre-chorus was played.

I actually really like the breaking up of overwhelmed.
This song rules for me. The music isn't ground breaking, but the lyrics and Ed's delivery of them makes this song. It does help that the lyrics speak to me. I can relate to where Ed is coming from in my own life. It's not cheesy to me because I think Ed is authentic in his emotion.

Yeah this is a great song. I don't feel the elements of it are that foreign to a lot of things Pearl Jam has done in the past as some have suggested.
