Re: Dave Matthews Band
I looked at last night’s setlist, and while I am sure I would have enjoyed it, I can at least report it subdued much of the disappointment. During the journey, I found myself really enjoying Cornbread, their cover of Sledgehammer, and Bartender and they played none of those last night. The Stone would have been amazing, and I am sure Two Step was great, but not much about the setlist really made me feel like a missed a huge night. Granted, setlists only tell but a fraction of the story, but hopefully I get the chance to make this one up in the fall/winter or next summer.

Re: Dave Matthews Band
i did the alpine valley shows this last weekend, my first shows since 2018, first at alpine since 2016, and 26th/27th band shows overall. it was good to be back on the hill again. i have had a terrible few weeks, including my dad passing at the start of june and my truck shredding its serpentine belt on my way over to alpine on friday evening, but i was still able to make it work. and i am sure glad i did. i will not lie- the pig opener on n1 is exactly what i needed to hear at that moment - 'there's bad times, but that's ok... don't burn the day away' - and i couldn't hold it in anymore. that song will have a whole new meaning and memory for me going forward. and the primary reason i bought tix at all for these shows was because dreaming tree popped up in the rotation early in the tour and i'd have been mad at myself if they played it and i didn't go. when those opening notes started i lost it again, and it was just such a good, much needed emotional release. as for the rest of the song selection, i think these sets were a good mix for what dave matthews band is in 2022, and with that said i damn sure am going to be thankful about getting 8 before these crowded streets songs - pretty much everything in rotation right now - over these two nights given some of the other stuff that has been appearing in sets this year. and it's true what i've read other people say of other shows - sledgehammer absolutely got the loudest crowd reaction. go figure. it is a fun cover. i don't *need* to see it, but i don't mind if i do.

Thanks for that roundup. I’m sorry to hear about these hard times you are having. Music can take you way, if just for a little while, and I am glad they were able to do that for you.

sorry for your loss, i'm glad to see the music helped. i know how you feel.
that first setlist kinda gives me a boner. #41 followed by fool in the rain, then ending the main setlist with my two favorite songs. i've been listening to live dmb a lot lately, i forgot how great the dreaming tree is. and yes, if i haven't said it enough, sledgehammer is a monster. i also love when they do 'stairway' in the middle of 'watchtower'. i kinda like led zeppelin lol.

Yeah, that was fun to read.
Crazy this band doesn’t play Crash either night. Good for them.

I thought both setlists were kinda up and down throughout the show, but my god was it a relief to be back. i enjoyed night 2 more, but part of that is because it started with the best two song punch i've ever seen. Dave broke into the Warehouse riff just as Fool in the Rain ended, I think I scared everyone around me b/c I yelled so loud. I can't tell you how much fun it was to be back seeing dmb in camden. running into old friends, making new ones, dancing. everything was awesome.

Glad you got to hear Warehouse at the stop. Saw some good shows at Camden but miss spending time in Philly even more.

The neutered Last Stop played too quickly is by far one of the worst things this band has done.

11.16.22 Wright State University Nutter Center Dayton, OH
11.18.22 Madison Square Garden New York, NY
11.19.22 Madison Square Garden New York, NY
glad they are stopping here in minneapolis, and that it's not one of if not the first show on the tour, which has been the case a few times for their fall tours. if i feel particularly ambitious, i may suffer a trip to omaha the night before just to do a bit of travel.

highlights for me included hearing the maker for the first time, i just love that song even if they don't make it their own. i feel like away from the world is very underrated and was an album dave matthews had seemingly forgot existed for awhile, so it was nice to hear the riff for the first time in 10 years, and even rooftop which isn't a favorite from that album but also hadn't been played at one of my shows in quite awhile. this set also had something like 6-7 songs that rotate as set/show closers spread throughout, so there was a lot of uptempo energy present through the whole set with only a couple lulls. while two step was the only song played that i'd consider among my absolute favorite dave matthews band songs, there were NO songs played that i would be ok never hearing again, and that was honestly the biggest surprise of this show for me. the band sounded good and seemed to be enjoying themselves, but they are a well oiled machine at this point and there didn't seem to be any real spontaneity or risks taken- the water into wine snippet was about the only thing that seemed off the cuff.
all in all a pleasant surprise of a show all things considered, and i get to sleep in my own bed after, which is always a plus.

Re: Dave Matthews Band
i think that set list is fire. i dunno how often they open with 'so right', but that's a pretty loud start. "Madman's Eyes" is not the song i thought dmb would fall in love with playing in 2022, but it's a great surprise. it's way more intense than i thought we'd get from them at this point. 'sledgehammer' is maybe the best cover they've ever done. the end of the main set is incredible. i really fell back in love with 'two step' last year at msg. that song is so fuckin good.
