Eddie Vedder - Earthling

When a band is but a fraction of Pearl Jam, but they aren't zero Pearl Jam.

The Dark keeps getting better, kinda reminds me of Betterman for whatever reason.

I love that Elton song. Maybe my fifth favorite track on the album.

Elton writing simple, melodic old school stompers around someone else's lyrics is usually a formula I can get behind, and it's pretty interesting to see how another songwriter approaches the task of creating music for Ed's lyrics.

Imagine having The Dark on your record, and making Long Way / Haves the principle singles.

Still don’t understand the choice of having Chad Smith on this thing just to make him sound like a stock ProTools plugin

Agreed, although I like the live version of Long Way. The Haves is really falling off - it now just sounds whiney.

I can't believe they haven't issued a proper live show recording of this one yet.

The end jam is just like Betterman Live. This song hasn't lost a thing after many, many listens.

It's a great pop song and it doesn't grow tired with age.

The Dark is my favorite off this album and it’s not all that particularly close. It’s exemplary of how an Eddie Vedder can thrive with a band not named Pearl Jam and not sound like a diluted Pearl Jam. It’s wonderfully independent while still wearing its classic rock influence on its sleeves.

Don’t get me wrong: Invincible and Mrs. Mills are also two more songs that I actively want to hear any time, but The Dark is the chef’s kiss on this one.

Still waiting for that one to totally click. It's certainly not the worst track. It's fine. But most fans here seem to love it and to me it's... fine.

The Dark, Mrs Mills, Invincible, and Fallout Today continue to get regular spins around here.

Pretty much the same here, too. Toss in Brother the Cloud once in awhile.

The Dark and Invincible are great songs, and generally the only two I listen to from this album.
