The Old Man (Hulu/FX)
This is GREAT. Can’t believe it’s not getting more publicity.
I want to be Jeff Bridges when I grow up.

This is apparently getting a second season. Not sure how I feel about that. I love everything about the show but I was expecting a complete story told in limited series format. I hope this doesn’t blunt the storytelling choices.

Re: The Old Man (Hulu/FX)
I wasn’t a big fan of most of episode 5. Felt like a lot of on-the-nose, overly speechy monologues. Acting still great but I was watching the clock for a lot of this.

Totally agree. Felt like the show was up its own ass. Worst ep so far.Ensign9 wrote:I wasn’t a big fan of most of episode 5. Felt like a lot of on-the-nose, overly speechy monologues. Acting still great but I was watching the clock for a lot of this.

Re: The Old Man (Hulu/FX)
Good god. Halfway through episode 6 and it’s clear these writers just can’t help themselves making everything as obvious as possible through dialogue.
It’s still shot and acted well so I’ll stick it out through the finale but what a downer after such a promising start.
Edit: solid last ten minutes, though.

Re: The Old Man (Hulu/FX)
That ending WAS a rather risky gamble.tragabigzanda wrote:This was very uneven. Saw the twist coming like four episodes ago. Did not foresee the unsatisfying ending, since it didn’t get a S2 order until after it started airing.
Everything with Bridges, Lithgow, and Brenneman is really great. Everything with Shawkat, Bonilla, and Lubany is like network TV bad. 50/50 I stick around for S2.
