He makes memorable, interesting, complex performances outta roles most Hollywood actors would portray as one-dimensional and boring. Take Ford vs. Ferrari for instance. He's wayy more compelling than Matt Damon. He's definitely better than Leo Dicaprio. Imagine Bale in Wolf of Wall Street. He'd actually make that movie pretty great. Leo is always Leo for the most part. Bale transforms.

Whenever there's active promotion on the part of somebody else, whenever I see somebody all dolled up for a fancy photograph and someone's handing out flyers or whenever there's active promotion for something like that, as an imposition on my day, I hate all those people and I want them to fail. I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

It does take some acting chops to play Jason Bourne but it’s not blowing anybody’s minds really and it’s nothing we haven’t seen before. Also it isn't hard to imagine a different actor making the role more interesting. I can't think of one Bale performance I can imagine a different actor making more compelling.
